Summer Carnival in Spring

This is a post I’ve meant to write for more than a month now, and I could never find the time or mood for that, so I think it’s high time to present my Summer Carnival Bolero finally!

It’s the shortest cardigan I’ve ever owned (or knitted), and it’s a somewhat surprising addition to my wardrobe, as I’m usually more of a tunic kind of gal. But recently I’ve found myself knitting smaller and shorter sweaters, and it culminated (at least I think so, if I go any shorter, it’s not going to be a sweater anymore but… I don’t know… a cowl?) in this bolero. As it’s finally getting warmer, it’s a functional, lightweight, not too covering layer that I can wear below my spring jacket. That is, at least I could do it if I went out – my only trips are taking the rubbish out, going for short walks in the neighbourhood (we don’t have many places to walk here even though the area is rural and green, as there are mostly fenced pastures and there are no pavements. To have a proper walk we have to go by car first, a little farther than is allowed for non-essential reasons now) and rare grocery shopping, that we try to limit as much as possible. But in theory… the bolero is perfect for now 😉

Winter Pullover in the Springtime

It might be Spring already(and surprisingly, even the weather seems to confirm it these days!), but I have a lot of beautiful wool yarn in my stash and many sweaters lined up in my knitting queue. Sweaters and shawls. I need to refresh my wardrobe when it comes to sweaters anyways, and I guess if I do it now, it means I’ll be prepared when it gets colder again in the Fall, right?

It’s summer, for real!

20180707_181525

It’s summer in Ireland, and quite an amazing one, with several weeks of sunshine and temperatures well above 20 degrees Celsius. Apparently it’s one of the warmest summers ever! Funny thing, in Poland that would be considered average or even cool summer weather, and as the Boyfriend says, in Greece that’s more like early spring or maybe autumn. But here it really feels hot, so much so that we’ve already spent a few weekend days on the beach and even went swimming a couple of times! In fact, since our living room has one glass wall (windows from ceiling to floor), it gets awfully hot inside and I’m looking forward for the weather to cool down.

And Ciri doesn’t love this heatwave either. She stretches herself down on the cool floor (here she is next to my desk but in fact she prefers cooler kitchen floor tiles) and tries to survive until the evening. Stella doesn’t really mind, maybe because her fur is a little shorter and less thick.

A very active week and treats for senses

20171117_165355

I really don’t want to turn this blog into my health-related ranting space. I promise that’s not my hidden agenda 😉 But these days are dominated by health and illness issues for me and my life is largely organised around them so it’s difficult to avoid this topic… However, to prove that I’m still all about yarn, above is the sneak peak of my current WIP 😉 And this post is going to end more on a more cheerful note than it starts!
