I’ve been planning to knit the Madigan top for my mother since… I’m not even sure, seems like forever. That’s because it’s exactly the type of sweater she likes, with short sleeves and ridged cowl designed to keep the neck warm. And it’s simple, no lace or fancy stitches – I just know she’s going to love it!

Speckled summer top
I bought Conway + Bliss Lolli yarn as a part of my Wool Lotto shopping spree. I’ve had my eye on it for a while, even though it’s apparently designed for kids projects 😉 I like the structure of the thread – like an airy tube, a bit thicker in its colourful parts. And I like the speckles too, and the fiber content (cotton with some polyester)… so I decided to give it a try, and use it for a summer top. I chose the grey version as I like how the bold neon speckles work with this calm, neutral background.
Something blue!
So… it happened! I knitted my first top – not exactly a sweater but a summer sleeveless top in cotton yarn. Yay!
I wasn’t sure if knitting an actual garment was a good idea at this stage. I thought that maybe I should stick to scarves, gloves, small projects more suitable for a beginner. But I really wanted to try, to move beyond things that could just be crocheted – to feel why learning to knit was the right choice. And this is when Drops designs came to the rescue, one more time 🙂
