An Update

20170719_112209

I’ve been away from blogging for a while recently. My first blogiversary is approaching and I’ve been trying to figure out what do I want from my blog. You see, when I first started blogging, it was just to write about crochet and I seriously wanted to try writing amigurumi patterns and to publish them here. But then I started knitting and I am constantly thinking about new things to try, and somehow the initial idea for this blog just ceased to exist. And I’m not really sure where to go now? I enjoy writing about my projects, as much as I love visiting the blogs of other crocheters and knitters and reading about their latest projects and ideas. So I decided to just leave the blog as it is and keep it as my crafty diary. It’s actually quite awesome to look back and read about my first knitting attempts and see all the progress I’ve already made!

However I decided to rename the blog. I’m the worst with titles, and “Kat’s Crochet and Knitting” sounded like a name of a small countryside Bed & Breakfast rather than a title of a blog. My new title is “Cats and Threads” – and while it probably sounds equally strange, I just want to focus on my favourite things here. Sure, there are also other things I love, like reading, hiking, video games or kayaking… but my cats and my yarn, knitting, crochet and sometimes sewing (hence “threads” and not “yarn”) are what I deal with everyday and what always brings me joy. So no worries, this Crazy Cat Lady is still going to focus on her crafts, but she wants to acknowledge her other source of joy too 🙂

Speckled summer top

20170513_165559

I bought Conway + Bliss Lolli yarn as a part of my Wool Lotto shopping spree. I’ve had my eye on it for a while, even though it’s apparently designed for kids projects 😉 I like the structure of the thread – like an airy tube, a bit thicker in its colourful parts. And I like the speckles too, and the fiber content (cotton with some polyester)… so I decided to give it a try, and use it for a summer top. I chose the grey version as I like how the bold neon speckles work with this calm, neutral background.
